Karlshagen has its own railway station. Anyone who has experienced the Peene bridge in summer knows why the train is often the calmer decision here.
Züssow is the interchange station for Usedom and is served from Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig and Stralsund. From there the Usedomer Bäderbahn takes over.
The island railway crosses to Usedom via Wolgast and stops in Karlshagen. Much of the line runs within sight of the water. Bicycles are carried.
The hotel is on the Strandpromenade at the edge of the village towards the dunes. Exact distance from the station, the walk and whether a pick-up is possible: [PLACEHOLDER — please confirm with the hotel]
The UBB serves the entire island from Peenemünde in the north to Świnoujście in the south. Zinnowitz, Trassenheide, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck are all reachable without a car — and the beach is 50 metres from the house anyway.
Anyone wanting to see more than the railway line combines it with a bike: ride out, roll back, or the other way round. More on the page Cycling on Usedom.

The only northern access to the island crosses the bascule bridge at Wolgast. It opens for ships several times a day, and on a Saturday in July the queue in front of it survives no schedule.
The railway uses its own lift bridge and is far less affected. For weekend arrivals and departures that is the practical difference.
