The island has its best days in spring and autumn — and some of them start with rain. Here is what still works.
Sauna, infrared cabin, whirlpool and a quiet room with wooden loungers — the spa exists for exactly these days. No day ticket, no drive, no booking needed for hotel guests.
Afterwards, homemade ice cream in the café or pizza straight from the wood-fired oven. Neither route passes through any rain.
Tropically warm, entirely under cover and the obvious destination for children when the beach is out. Reachable from the hotel by bike or on the island railway.
The place where the first large rocket was developed during the Second World War. The museum treats the history critically and needs several hours — for older children and adults.
Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin with their spa architecture, piers and enough cafés for a long afternoon. Reachable without a car on the Usedomer Bäderbahn.
The beach in the north of Usedom is practically empty in bad weather. Wind from the west, a rain jacket, two kilometres along the water — and the sauna afterwards. Some guests come in November for exactly this and not in July.
The Peenemünde woods behind the dune are the sheltered alternative when it blows too hard off the sea.
In the hotel itself: sauna, infrared cabin and quiet room. Nearby: the butterfly farm in Trassenheide, the Historical Technical Museum at Peenemünde and the imperial spas with their spa architecture.
Yes. The in-house spa includes a sauna, infrared cabin, whirlpool and a quiet room, and can also be rented exclusively for groups.
About three kilometres — quickly reached by bike, on the Usedomer Bäderbahn or by car.
Yes. Spring and autumn are the quietest months on the island and often the finest for walking the beach. The spa in the house makes cold days comfortable too.
Sauna in the house, beach at the door, pizza from the wood-fired oven. Rain is accounted for.
